British Car Week Rally
2000 in Gothenburg
It was crowded at the start.
More than 80 British cars started in the first ever British Car Week Rally in Sweden. The rally was arranged by UBCC in Gothenburg on May 21st.
Most welknown British car nakes were represented. The most rare car was a Marauder.
Here is more information about the car and the owner.
The weather was excellent and the Swedish nature at it's best this Sunday. The rally passed through some nice scenery and of course some nice passages in the city center.
There were three practical tests. At the first the teams were supposed to drive a Mini with the wheel geared the opposite way, and the co-driver had to manage the brake and throttle!
Most teams handled this surprisingly well, but some trips were ended by the protecting wheels around the track!
It was hard work to raise all fallen cones along the track!
The goal was at Gustaf Adolfs Torg in the city centre, where the cars were lined up for the parade.
The passers-by seemed to enjoy the cars as much as the weather.
First in line and in the parade was a genuine London Cab and a new Land Rover Discovery. The London Cab was for the honorary prize-giver, the British Consul General in Gotheburg Chris Greenwood, and the Land Rover for the prize-giver Derek Crabb.
